August 24, 2010 - Been writing a few new songs and working on recording/editing some others. I've also been singing at Christian Writers Nights around Nashville. Once or twice a month I'll lead worship for meetings at my church, and I recently led a couple of original songs of worship on Sunday morning (New melody to "Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus" with the "in" changed to "You," and also an original called "I Need to Worship You.") May 6, 2009 - I sang with The Nashville Choir last Saturday, May 2, at the Grand Openging of the Farmer's Market in Nashville. We sang patriotic songs, mainly, and enjoyed just being in the community and hanging out with fellow choir members. Lots of great fresh food and restaurants there too! Quite a sight to see the Bicentennial Mall, which is where they hold the Farmer's Market. They have a stone ampitheater there, which is where The Nashville Choir will be leading a thousand voice choir singing patriotic songs on the 4th of July. Had a great time at Shelby Avenue Baptist Church last Sunday, singing and worshipping the Lord with the good people there. It was very encouraging! Thanks to Matt Anderson for inviting me to sing there! I've been working quite a bit on my voice lately, trying to get it ready for what looks like the final recording prep I'll be doing for this next album I've been working on. Feeling stronger than ever and am looking forward to finishing these songs! If you haven't already signed up for the newsletter, please do, so I can let you know when the album is released. God Bless for now! - Tim October 15, 2007 - Hi folks! Just checking in with ya'll. I DO still exist. I've been quite busy working on albums, singing with The Nashville Choir and trusting the Lord for all my needs. It's been a faith-building experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world! Since my last post....once upon a time in a far away....forget it.....I have sung at a coffee house, a wedding, a wedding reception (at the home of singer-songwriter Gary Chapman), in the Washington D.C. subways, the Capital, the TN governors prayer breakfast, a community hymn sing at the new Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, TN, the latest Michael W. Smith Christmas album, due to be released October 16th, 2007, my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary in Wisconsin (way to go, mom and dad!), a TV taping called Timeless, now out in stores across the country, several churches, a nursing home, several TN radio programs, a joint concert with other choirs in the Nashville area, with artists such as Steve Green, CC Winans and others. Most of that was with The Nashville Choir, some as a solo artist (radio, coffee house, wedding, anniversary and wedding reception). So, that's it in a nutshell singing-wise. The next item on the docket is to finish the albums. So, please pray that they will be finished soon, and that the Lord will use me and the music to further his Kingdom in the lives of many. I have to admit that I get discouraged sometimes with progress on the albums moving so slowly, but I believe that the Lord has His reasons for the delays, and can see now that my character needed much more work than I thought it did. I've been involved in a men's group called "Samson Society" (.org if you want to check it out) for the last two years and, looking back, have seen how the Lord has changed me in many ways through being in the company of other Christian men. It has been good to realize that I need other people in my life. I would go so far as to say that, in my experience, this type of relationship building with others ranks right up there with prayer and Bible study/reading as very necessary disciplines in my life. Something about relationship makes it all come alive. I hope that you too can find some Christian men or women to meet with and talk openly and honestly with. God Bless' for now! - Tim February 8, 2007 - I had the privilege of singing for a "Christian Women in the Marketplace" luncheon today in Franklin, TN. A drama duo called "Peculiar People" (www.peculiarpeople.com) also was there and made a great impact, especially regarding knowing how much the Lord loves us, and that He loves us because He chooses to, not because of anything we've done. They are also very funny. I found myself laughing and crying at the same time! Had a great time with everyone there and was treated with a free lunch. That was especially good since it was my birthday, though they didn't know it. Anyway, I'm very encouraged to continue singing and finishing up the hymns project. Please pray I can get it done soon if you think of it. Thank you so much! January 24, 2007 - Chose another hymn for the hymns project I'm working on. Should be the final one. Great song called "Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy." Getting excited about finishing the album and seeing how Jesus will use it to further His Kingdom as I begin singing these faith-filled songs. I've been without a day job for almost a year and a half now. It's been encouraging to see how the Lord has sustained me even without a regular source of income. I've always known in theory that I could trust the Lord to supply my needs, but now I know in reality more than ever before. My fears of "not having" what I need have greatly lessened since He's proven Himself over and over to me. It really is true that if I "seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things will be added..." (Matt 6:33). November 17, 2006 - Hey everyone. I've been working in the studio lately on a hymns project as well as singing out a little around TN and at my church, Harpeth Community. Life seems to move much slower than I'd prefer, but, alas, that's the way it is. Just trusting the Lord and that He knows what's best. Hope you all are doing well! God Bless' August 5, 2006 - Radio interview Monday morning 8AM, August 7 in Spring Hill, TN at the First Farmers and Merchants bank. I'll be singing the song "Real Life" live as well as being interviewed by Cindy Williams. Then it's off to the Williamson County Fair on Monday afternoon and Thursday afternoon for several songwriters in the rounds. Another round on Friday night at Shane's Rib Shack by the new Target just south of Franklin, TN on Columbia Ave. So, as you can see, the pace is starting to pick up a little...ready or not! July 5, 2006 - Hi everyone! Still working on one or two albums...narrowing down the songs and writing a few new ones as well. Things seem to be moving slowly, but, I'm convinced of what the Lord is doing and will follow Him no matter what, and do whatever I need to do in partnership with Him. I'm learning about evangelism (see www.wayofthemaster.com) and how fulfilling it is to tell others about the Lord. Actually, even though I'm fairly well versed in speaking about the Lord in church, I've been a little unsure of how to approach witnessing in an effective way outside the church that doesn't present any offense to people other than the offense of Jesus. That's where I want to be. So check out the website above and you'll see what I mean. Hopefully, you'll agree. I'm also learning about having joy in my life (see www.mosaic.org, message entitled "Mosaic Sports Center:play" by Erwin McManus from June 25, 2006), and that I should seek to do the things that bring me the most joy, thus, needing to find out what they are. I've basically determined that they are: to know, trust and love the Lord fully, to bring other's to know, trust and love the Lord fully (seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness - Matt. 6:33) and to sing and write music. I guess no real surprises there, but, it's good to feel "fully authorized" to pursue them with an even greater passion. April 25, 2006 - Putting together the songs for a new album, some of which are available to hear on the music page (these are demos only). Looking forward to getting it finished and singing the new songs! September 12, 2005 - Things are a changin'! My day job has come to an end and the Lord is sending me out to sing! I need and would appreciate your prayers for strength and courage so that I sing well and speak boldly to all the people to whom the Lord takes me. He's marked me out for a specific mission and has led me since my youth to claim Isaiah 61:1-3 as my life verses: The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. I believe that this scripture shows that God has called me to reach out through my music both to to the lost and to the church. Unbelievers and believers alike. Not sure what it will look like yet, but all I need to know is the next step, which I DO know. I'll be finishing up several projects I've been working on and getting ready to follow wherever the Lord leads me to sing. A dear friend of mine sent me the following quote: I was regretting the past and fearing the future. Suddenly my Lord was speaking: ""My name is I am."" He paused. I waited. He continued, ""When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard. I am not there. My name is not I WAS. When you live in the future, with its problems and fears, it is hard. I am not there. My name is not I WILL BE. When you live in this moment, it is not hard. I am here. My name is I AM. Helen Mallicoat Good word. Let's live in the moment and walk with Jesus hand in hand, step by step. It's been great living and working here in Nashville with so many other singers and songwriters. Getting to know the ones God has brought my way has had the effect of raising the level of quality that I expect in writing and singing. As the Bible says, "Iron sharpens iron." Because I know my mission, I will keep on pursuing what the Lord sets before me day by day. He has a plan whether I see it or not. He is faithful, and will do everything He says! Please be encouraged, and know that He loves you, and is with you in every situation. If you have trusted Jesus for your salvation, then you can take great comfort in knowing that He has promised to enter into all things to work them together for good (Romans 8:28). He came that we might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10)! So, even if things don't seem that great right now, claim the promise and trust Him. Remember, " Weeping endures for the night, but joy comes in the morning." (Psalm 30:5)
